Super Hero Dayjobs

One of the most relatable aspects of a super hero that fans identify with is their alter-ego day job. In most cases, our favorite heroes have jobs just like the rest of us. From pilots, teachers, soldiers, and cops to industrialists, lawyers, and politicians, super heroes come from all walks of professional life… and no, we don't consider royalty a day job. It's one thing to hold down a day job, but it's another story altogether to moonlight as a crime fighter at night, especially when you're putting your life on the line "pro bono". Still, like the rest of us, almost everyone in the super hero universe has a job to do, average or not.

Lawyer

It's funny how lawyers take so much heat in real life but some of the most popular super heroes of all time practice law for a living. Arguably the most popular and respected of all super hero lawyers is Daredevil as blind attorney Matt Murdock who fights for justice in two distinctly different manners. Lawyer by day, masked crime fighting vigilante by night, Murdock is a positive poster boy for the legal profession. There's no doubt that some of today's most prolific lawyers were inspired by the Daredevil comics in their early years. On the female side of the fence, She-Hulk alter ego, Jennifer Walters, has been one of the most influential lawyers in the entire super hero universe, having been enlisted by several super names to server as their legal council while working for Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway. Once hired by billionaire industrialist Tony Stark as defense council, Walters went on to file suit against Iron Man in a different world and once even served legal papers to Peter Parker (Spider-Man). She's been one of the busiest lawyers in super hero history. Also, other notable super hero lawyers include Manhunter's Karen Spencer and Helena Wayne in the Earth 2 series as the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. At one point, Green Lantern Guy Gardner even defended Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

Reporter/Journalist

When it comes to average Joe alter-egos, Superman's Clark Kent and Spider-Man's Peter Parker aren't raking in huge amounts of loot for a living. Parker also teaches at his old high school so we know he's barely getting by. However, what Kent and Parker have proven is that there's longevity in the news business… even more so than real life. Still, seeing how Superman and Spider-Man are two of the coolest, most popular characters in super hero history, reporter and photographer are two day jobs that fans instantly relate to when thinking of top comic book jobs. It's the fact that they both earn an honest living that makes them so appealing and relatable as characters. What makes them even more super is that for years they've both endured overbearing bosses we can all identify with - Kent's boss Perry White at the Daily Planet and Parker's superior (now former) J. Jonah Jameson at the Daily Bugle. At one point both Mystique and Captain America had brief stints at the Daily Bugle. As for the Daily Planet, it's kind of funny to think Superman actually works for Batman since Bruce Wayne owns the publication. Other notable journalists in the super hero universe include Rex Graine as Mr. A and Vic Sage as The Question, whose determination, morals, social conscience, and investigative techniques put both Clark Kent and Peter Parker to shame.
Medical Doctor

Over the years, unlike real life, there hasn't been a shortage of doctors in the super hero universe. Thor, Beast, Jean Grey, Doctor Mid-Nite, Dr. Strange, and Doctor Droom/Druid have all come to the aid of ailing super heroes in various capacities. Although some have gone beyond the medical field to explore and utilize their powers and talents in the realms of science, magic, and mysticism - some even forced to give up the profession as in the case of Dr. Strange - the medical profession has been well served by these heroes. Although some Marvel heroes would have sought out Strange for medical reasons prior to the car accident that ended his career as a surgeon, they now enlist him to help defeat evil through magic and mysticism. Not a bad career change, if you ask us. In recent years, it was cool to see both doctors Jean Grey and Hank McCoy together in the same movie in X-Men: The Last Stand. Given the fallout after the many clashes between good and evil, the job of medical doctor will always be a top occupation in the super hero universe. Although he is a doctor, it's hard to include Doctor Doom on the list since he's always out for blood.

Billionaire - Industrialist - Businessman

Although this day job is often closely interconnected with science and technology, Bruce Wayne (Batman), Tony Stark (Iron Man), Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) - even Janet Van Dyne (Wasp) comes from a wealthy family, portrayed as a wealthy socialite- were, and are, filthy stinking rich, with billions in the bank from various business dealings. You can throw Reed Richards into this category, too, but he's much more valuable for his scientific intellect in his many fields of study. With money comes power of a completely different kind for these heroes, making them some of the most powerful people in the entire super hero world. As a super hero, when you have that type of dough behind you, you've got more options at your disposal than the typical crime fighter. On top of that, if you're a guy, just from the bankroll alone you're an instant playboy. Women often throw themselves at your feet (or in the direction of your bed). Depending on what you're drawn to as far as super hero day jobs, it doesn't get much better than this. What more could you ask for? With special skills/powers, crazy Bill Gates type of money, political power and influence, any girl of your choice, fame and fortune... tough life! It also means you can afford a sidekick, too.

Scientist

When it comes to the fields of traditional science and applied science, the top day jobs list in the super hero universe reads like a who's who of the elite. From the likes of Hank Pym (Any-Man/Giant-Man/Yellowjacket), Charles Xavier (Professor X), Jay Garrick and Barry Allen (Flash), to Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic), Bruce Banner, (Hulk), Henry McCoy (Beast), Jonathan Ostermann (Doctor Manhattan), Ted Sallis (Man-Thing), all of the scientific and technological bases are covered - biochemistry, molecular biology, physics, genetics, mathematics, quantum mechanics, robotics, spectral analysis, engineering, biotechnology, energy storage and more. Hell, you could also throw Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark into this group for their scientific and applied technological prowess. These are the guys who make super heroes all the more super. They're also the guys who help our heroes understand why and how they're different.
It's one thing for a super hero to have extraordinary power, but it's another to be able to harness that force or ability and make it all the more powerful. Because of their brilliance, guys like Professor X also help maintain order in the super hero universe. However, science also has a downside when used for the wrong reasons. For as many heroes science produces and enhances, there's a long line of villains who use science for evil. Either way, it takes a scientific genius to explain to us non-mutants how all of the pieces fit together, especially since so many super heroes are born out of scientific mishaps.

Special Post

The holidays are just around the bend and it is better to prepare your gifts early, here are some awesome gifts that you can give to your loved ones or buy them to yourself :

Collectibles:
Batman B&W Arkham Asylum:
Considering that one of the hottest video game releases of this holiday season is Batman: Arkham City, it’s only fitting to complement that hype with this gorgeous DC Direct statue from their Batman: Black and White line, celebrating Arkham City’s precursor, Arkham Asylum. Standing confident in all of his glory, the Arkham Asylum Batman stands just over 7 inches tall and lives up to the high standards set by DCD’s other fine products. Best of all, this statue is on the relative cheap side: only $80 for one of the best Batman collectibles of the year.

Darth Maul with Mechanical Legs:
Few people will dispute the idea that Darth Maul was the coolest part of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Yet he was chopped in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the film’s final battle and exited our lives forever. That is, until a Dark Horse Comics story revealed that he’d actually survived and got himself some ostrich-style mechanical legs to seek vengeance on the Jedi that almost killed him. Sideshow celebrates that storyline with this badass, highly detailed statue of everyone’s second-favorite Sith Lord. What would the holidays be without some Star Wars? The Holiday Special notwithstanding, of course.

Comics:
Watchmen:
If you’re trying to convert a burgeoning comic book fan to a full-on graphic novel aficionado, there are few places better to start than Watchmen. The revered graphic novel from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons offers a look at superhero comics like you’ve never seen them before or since. Between a multi-layered narrative, an engaging murder mystery, insanely complex artwork and a backdrop of a dystopian 1980s America, Watchmen helped shove comics into the literary mainstream. It’s available in many different formats, from an expensive Absolute Edition to the more reasonably priced trade paperback. Either way, it’s a must-own for any fan.You also check out our review of it.

Y the last man:
When people are arguing over the best comic series ever made, Vertigo’s Y: The Last Man usually factors into that conversation. Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s examination of what the world would be like without a Y chromosome (except for one man, Yorick, and his pet monkey, Ampersand) is a fascinating look under the microscope at our society when the world seems to be coming to a plausible end. Just be warned: you’ll probably be crying by the time you wrap this puppy up. You can get your Y: The Last Man fix via 10 trade paperback collections or from five over-sized hardcovers.

Double Review: Aquaman #2 and Superman #2

Aquaman #2

After taking a first look on what could be the "bad guys" in this story line in the first issue, the second issue confirmed this thought. This issue starts with the owners of a boat being attacked by the creatures seen in the first issue claiming they were looking for food, then we cut to aquaman showing mera his wife pictures of him before he the days of being aquama. Suddenly aquaman is summoned by a deputy to help any survivors of the boat mentioned earlier that was on fire a few miles off shore. After few line of conversation and as aquaman and mera were heading to sea, a cocoon if taken out of the water. As soon as aquaman gets to it, those monters burst out of the water. In this issue we get to see aquaman in action and this action in very well illustrated by the beautiful art and coloring. I give it [7.5/10].

Superman #2

After fighting that fiery creature, Lois Lane's dad Brings news to superman about it, they suspect it is a creation of someone to bring terror into people's hearts, but superman knows that that is not true, because he says that he heard it say Kripton wich is superman's home planet. Then we switch to Clark kent in Lois Lane's appartement in a conversation that doesn't really add much to the story but it's good for the character development. Then we cut to superman doing his nightly "shift" but then he is attacked by an invisible creature to him, yes, a creature that everyone can see but him alone can't.No info was given about why he couldn't see it, but superman is a smart guy so he came up with a good idea to keep up with him.Any other info might spoil  the issue. The art is good as always tough I still can't get used to the new superman costume but other than that this issue was top notch. I give a [8/10].

Triple Review: JLA #2 Batman #2 and Wonder Woman #2

Justice League of America #2

After meeting super man in the first issue, the battle starts: Superman VS batman and green lantern. They are both too weak to beat superman. The battle started because of a misunderstanding about a box that was recovered for a creature that fought batman and green lantern in the first issue. After getting their ass kicked by superman green lantern calls the flash who gets there very fast, because as you may not know he is the fatstest man alive. The battle continues between flash and superman, and I love how the writers gave the flash what he deserved,All this battle is portrayed beautifully,I was flabbergasted by the amazing level of details that the artist gave, it really shows you that they love what they are doing. We then skip to S.T.A.R labs for super human studies, where victor's dad (cyborg) works, he gets in a fight with him for not coming at his football game, S.T.A.R labs also recovered a box, same as the one batman green lantern superman and flash got.The ending was pretty
awesome, where we see the real secret behind those boxes.I give a [9/10].

Batman #2
the first issue ended with reading the message that was on the wall behind the victim that says: Bruce Wayne will die tomorrow and the discovery of Dick Greyson's skin under the victim's fingernails . In the beginning of the issue, Bruce Wayne is falling from the Wayne tower after being thrown out by the same assassin that killed the  victim in the first issue, talking about the gargoyles that were considered guardians watching over all the ways of entry to Gotham city, we then go back twenty four hours before that. The autopsy of the john doe came back and nothing shows who the assassin is, Greyson's alibi check out so he is not the killer, Bruce is visited by Lincoln March one of the men running for mayor, Their discussion doesn't add a lot to the story, but afterwards the assassins comes for Bruce, not wanting to fight because he doesn't want to look suspicious, Bruce gets stabbed twice by the throwing knives of the assassin , and then he gets kicked out of the tower's window. The ending was great, It has a twist of events that will make you eager for the next issue.I give it a [8/10].

Wonder Woman #2
Wonder woman transported Hermes and Zola from Zola's hometown to Wonder woman's. She is then greeted by the amazons, Her mother the queen then talks to her about the reason she wanted to protect Zeus's bastard who Zola a human is carrying, and tells her that Zeus's wife will not leave them in peace. Sure enough, Hera (Zeus's wife) sent her daughter Eris (goddess of strife and discord) but she wasn't looking for Zola she was looking for something else.In this issue we do get to learn about the origin of Diana (Wonder woman) and why she is different from the other Amazonians. I give it a [7/10].

Review: 300

Presentation: Frank miller is probably one of the comic book writer that never did any of his comics wrong, they are all polished and have a deep story telling. 300 is no exception with it's amazing story telling that captures the Epicness of one of the most amazing stories in the ancient Greek history.

Story: In 480 BC, King Leonidas of Sparta gathers 300 of his best men to fight the upcoming Persian invasion. In what is likely a suicide mission, they and their allies plan to stop King Xerxes' invasion of Greece at the narrow cliffs of the "Hot Gates" (Thermopylae). The terrain prevents the Greeks from being overwhelmed by Xerxes' superior numbers. Before the battle starts, Ephialtes, a deformed Spartan, begs Leonidas to let him fight but is rejected due to his hunchbacked form, which prevents him from lifting his shield high enough to be of use for the phalanx. The Spartans and their allies successfully hold off the Persians for two days and nights. During a break in the fighting, Xerxes meets with Leonidas and offers wealth and power in exchange for his surrender. Leonidas declines, and battle continues. In his depression, Ephialtes betrays the Greeks by telling the Persians about the existence of a small pass that allows Xerxes to attack them from behind.Learning of the Persian maneuvers, the Greeks realize their position is indefensible, but the Spartans and a few others refuse to retreat. Before engaging the Persians for the last time, Leonidas orders one Spartan (Dilios) to leave,          so that he might survive to tell their story.

Art: As you'd expect from a Frank Miller novel. everything is gorgeous. The fight scenes are captured beautifully, I read it the comic books once and I found myself looking trough the pages again and again. It is really a treat for the eyes

Verdict: I give it a [8.5/10]. If you have seen the movie this comic book won't add anything new but if you haven't read this first and then watch the movie, wich I recommend.

Double Review: Aquaman #1 and Superman #1

Aquaman #1

Presentation: Aquaman has the potential to be one of the most awesome superheroes out there but the poor writing in the past. Hope fully this changed with this new reboot.

Story:There is No real story in this first issue other than Seeing some mysterious creatures coming up from the water and killing a sailor and Arthur (Aquaman) deciding to maybe leave his place as king of Atlantis.

Drawing: Aquaman looks effing amazing the coloring is done beautifully his costume makes other superheroes' ones look ridiculous.

Verdict:I give it a [6/10]. The drawing is what really got me. But some jokes implemented by the writers were funny, if you were looking for a start to a deep story, it really doesn't look like it. But it will be fun to see where this is going.

Superman #1

Presentation: Nobody can deny that superman is by far the most famous superheroes and he is one of the strongest ones also. But will this new reboot benefit a superhero who's been alive since the 1930s?

Story:The old daily planet is destroyed and rebuilt, wich is a pretty good deal for superman fans out there, tough the real story starts when a mysterious creature blows a horn from the top of the Himalayas followed by the appearance of a flaming creature that superman fights, and believe it was a pretty awesome fight,no details were given about the creature

Drawing: I have to say that I didn't really like the new outfit of superman, other than that everything is top notch, The fight sequence was very well captured

Verdict: I give it a [7/10], The fans may like the few changes that have been done on this title. For the story it is the first issue so don't go in expecting a lot.

Double Review: Batman #1 and Wonder Woman #1

BATMAN #1

Presentation : Te black knight is one of my favorite comic book characters, but sadly I was too young to read the first run of the series but with the new 52 it is my chance to do so.

Story: The story starts with Batman getting in a fight with all the famous villains and from the beginning you will see something that will make you go : WHAT?! After that the bat comes back to the bat cave for a gala, but will quickly get out of there and go to a crime scene of a man who's been stabbed and killed and gruesomely stuck to a wall . But the interesting thing about this crime scene is not the murder it self but the message that was drawn in a wall where the man was killed.

Drawings: The style is good but not very . The level of details isn't very good, some of the characters weren't captured as good as they could have been. But the star of the show, BATS, is very well drawn.

Verdict: This first issue was better than I expected , tough the art wasn't very good, what happened during these 24 pages is pretty awesome. I give it a [7.5/10].

WONDER WOMAN #1

Presentation : Wonder Woman is by far one of the hottest fictional characters there is. But I am not very familiar with her work as a super hero, that is why i was interested in this reboot.

Story: The story starts with a creature asking a woman to run away from her home, her and her child which she doesn't know about yet. He gives her a key as soon as she get it from him two centaur appear trying to kill the woman but as soon as she closes her hand on the key she is teleported to the house of Diana A.K.A Wonder Woman.I can't add anything that will not spoil the issue.

Drawing: Wonder Woman looks hot , wich is good. There are some gory scenes in the issue wich it always good. By the way, they went with the no pants version of wonder woman wich can only be good.

Verdict:You don't learn a lot during this issue, but we do get to see Wonder Woman in action. I give it a [7/10] but  good 7.

Review: Venom

Presentation : Venom is known as the nemesis of spider man but venom wasn't always Eddie Brock, This story is kinda the origins of venom. One thing is for sure Venom is Not only dangerous but awesome .

Story : lieutenant Robertson, U.S. Army is a communications specialist stationed at a radar station thirty miles north of the arctic circle. Ordered to travel to a secluded research lab nearby to return some movies, Robertson finds the staff of te facility brutally slaughtered their bodies thrown around like toys.Investigating further, robertons finds a single survivor barricaded in a cooler. unable to speak and almost frozen to death, the survivo offers no answers to how o why everyone else was killed before passing out at robertson's feet. What robertson is that she isn't the only one intrested in what heppened at the lab.The killer infeltrated the station and start killing everyone and now that it can take shape of the host everyone is a suspect.A mysterious man known as the suit is trying to destroy venom. If anything other than that I might spoil something.

Drawing: The style is something I haven't seen before . The colors are awesome , Venom is very well captured. You might not love it ,But it'll grow on you .Not like the symbiote (venom).

Verdict: I give it a [7.5/10] the story isn't very solid tough it is still a good read . If you want to know more about Venom I recommend buying it.

Review: Scott pilgrim

Presentation: The movie adaptation of this comic book was talked about a lot. But from the look of it , I think it's stupid. But is it?

Story:
The series begins by introducing Scott Pilgrim, a 23-year-old Canadian slacker living in Toronto with his gay roommate Wallace Wells. He is the bass player for a band called Sex Bob-omb, along with his friends Stephen Stills "The Talent" (guitar) and Kim Pine (drums). He begins dating a Chinese-Canadian high-schooler, Knives Chau. Kim criticizes the relationship due to Knives' age, but Scott dismisses her complaints by pointing out that the relationship is platonic.
One night, Scott begins dreaming about a girl on Rollerblades who he has never met before. He later glimpses her in real life delivering a package to the library. Her repeated presence in his dreams, and a coincidental meeting at a party thrown by Stephen's on-off girlfriend Julie Powers, prompts him to become obsessed with finding out more about her. He discovers that she is Ramona Flowers, a girl who works for Amazon.ca and has recently come to Toronto from New York after a rumored messy break-up with someone named Gideon.
Scott orders CDs on Amazon as a pretense to meet her again, and receives an email from someone named Matthew Patel warning him about an upcoming battle, but Scott pays it little heed and promptly deletes it. After another dream about Ramona, in which she is carrying his package, Scott wakes to find her at his door. She explains that she uses subspace portals as part of her job to cross long distances in seconds; one such route passes through Scott's brain, hence his dreams. Having convinced her he is not a strange person after their previous encounters, they spend the evening together and go back to her house during a heavy snowstorm, kiss, and spend the night together.
The next day, Wallace informs Scott that he needs to break up with Knives if he plans to pursue a serious relationship with Ramona, but when he meets Knives later in preparation for a band gig, Scott is unable to bring himself to break up with her. He also receives a letter from Matthew, which he again disregards.
At the venue, Sex Bob-omb prepare to begin their set when Matthew Patel descends upon the stage and engages Scott in a video game-style duel. He reveals himself as one of Ramona's evil ex-boyfriends, and has mystical powers that allow him to summon "demon hipster chicks." Scott defeats him in a musical battle, his final attack obliterating Matthew and leaving behind a handful of coins. On the subway home, Scott and Ramona decide to become a couple, on the proviso that Scott agree to defeat her six other evil-exes. When Scott asks if Gideon is one of them, Ramona's head glows sharply. And he has to fight the other six.

Drawing: There is not much to say about it. The backgrounds are empty, the books aren't inked very well. I got bored reading it.

Verdict: If this comic wants to be taken seriously then it fails miserably. If not it still isn't Bob-omb! I give it a [5/10]. And i have to say the movie was more entertaining than the comic, wich doesn't happen that much.

Review: Justice league #1

Presentation: Yesterday i went and picked up justice league #1 . It was the only one out ,but it was time for me to announce our review series of the new 52 comics, tough i will only be reviewing five titles . I hope you like them.

Story: The story is set 5 years before the DC universe as we know it. Superheroes don't know each others identities yet, and the haven't even met each other yet. This first Issue follows batman as he was following this creature and then Hal Jordan A.K.A Green lantern shows up and tells batman that it is a mission for the green lantern corps. Batman of course doesn't let him go alone and they "Team-up". The story also gives a bit of time for Cyborg who hasn't turned into a cyborg yet.

Drawings: The drawings are amazing ! the color are awsome! I mean it is a 2011 release so it has to be.

Verdict: I give it and [8/10] I think that this series will be awsome. I cannot wait for more!

P.S: The review of the first issues will be like this and after that i will only be talking about what happened . I will review the next issue knowing that you have read the one before, if i spoil anything sorry.

Review: Batman: Arkham city

Presentation: This is the prequel to one of the most anticipated game of the year. But was it a good idea for DC to make such move?

Story: The story picks up one year after Arkham Asylum, where the new Mayor Quincy Sharp (former Arkham Warden) has closed down Arkham and instead instituted the titular Arkham City. An Escape From New York-esque prison system, inmates are free to roam about the "maximum security home" set within the heavy walls of a sectioned off piece of Gotham City real estate. Running the establishment is Dr. Hugo Strange, a character we've learned from the latest game trailer knows the identity of Batman.

Drawing: The drawing on this one is simply astonishing The way the characters are drawn is very accurate.

Verdict: This totally gives the story more depth. I give it a [8/10]. If you are planing to play the game and have a 15$ you can spare then go pick this up. BTW there is a LOT of commercials in the comic , but if you can get over them, please go and pick it up.

Stay tuned .Tomorrow I will make a big announcement that you will surely like. And sorry if the review is a bit rushed i wanted to time the announcement with the weekend .

Review: V for Vendetta

Presentation:

The movie V for Vendetta was recommended for me by many of my friends, and they described it by one words: Badass. But does it deserve this description?

Story:

In the 1980s, a world war, Europe, Africa and the United States of America is reduced to ashes by nuclear weapons. Britain was spared by the bombings but not by thechaos and flooding resulting from climate change. English society in this post-apocalyptic, a fascist party, Norsefire, took over power and tries to restore the countryafter carrying out ethnic cleansing, political and social without mercy. In 1997, when the party seems to have the situation under control, an anarchist began a campaign to undermine all the symbols of power. This anarchist who calls himself "V"wears a mask representing the face of Guy Fawkes, the most famous member of theGunpowder Plot. In his first brilliant action, blasting the Palace of Westminster, Vrescues Evey, a young girl of 16 who might be raped and executed for prostitution.

Drawing:

The drawing is good, not very , but it suits the post apocalyptic environment. And it's also cool to see another version of this world where it is not only desert wastelands. "V" is captured beautifully and is very charismatic as a character and the costume helps a lot in bringing that badass look.

Verdict: I give it a [7.5/10] the story had a lot of long conversations and I was hoping to see a lot more action. My expectation did influence the score, but if you are looking for a solid story you will not find anything better.

Review: Batman: Year one

Presentation: Batman is one of the most charismatic DC characters, and is one of my favorites.IGN Comics ranked Batman: Year One at the top of a list of the 25 greatest Batman graphic novels, saying that "no other book before or since has quite captured the realism, the grit and the humanity of Gordon and Batman so perfectly." The website added, "It's not only one of the most important comics ever written, it's also among the best." So does it deserve that title?

Story:The story recounts the beginning of Bruce Wayne's career as Batman and Jim Gordon's with the Gotham City Police Department. Bruce Wayne returns home to Gotham City from training abroad in martial arts, manhunting, and science for the past 12 years, and James Gordon moves to Gotham with his wife, Barbara, after a transfer from Chicago. Both are swiftly acquainted with the corruption and violence of Gotham City, with Gordon witnessing his partner Detective Flass assaulting a teen for fun.
On a surveillance mission to the seedy East End, a disguised Bruce is propositioned by teenaged prostitute Holly Robinson. He is reluctantly drawn into a brawl with her violent pimp and is attacked by several prostitutes, including dominatrix Selina Kyle. Two police officers shoot and take him in their squad car, but a dazed and bleeding Bruce breaks his handcuffs and causes a crash, dragging the police to a safe distance before fleeing. He reachesWayne Manor barely alive and sits before his father’s bust, requesting guidance in his war on crime. A bat crashes through a window and settles on the bust, giving him the inspiration to become a bat.
Gordon soon works to rid corruption from the force, but, on orders from Commissioner Gillian Loeb, several officers attack him, including Flass, who personally threatens Gordon’s pregnant wife. In revenge, the recovering Gordon tracks Flass down, beats and humiliates him, leaving him naked and handcuffed in the snow.
As Gordon becomes a minor celebrity for several brave acts, Batman strikes for the first time, attacking a group of thieves. Batman soon works up the ladder, even attacking Flass while he was accepting a drug dealer’s bribe. After Batman interrupts a dinner party attended by many of Gotham’s corrupt politicians and crime bosses, including Carmine "The Roman" Falcone, Loeb orders Gordon to bring him in by any means necessary.
As Gordon tries in vain to catch him, Batman attacks Falcone, stripping him naked and tying him up in his bed after dumping his car in the river, further infuriating the mob boss. Assistant district attorney Harvey Dent becomes Batman’s first ally, while Detective Sarah Essen and Gordon, after Essen suggested Bruce Wayne as a Batman suspect, witness Batman save an old woman from a runaway truck. Essen holds Batman at gunpoint while Gordon is momentarily dazed, but Batman disarms her and flees to an abandoned building.
Claiming the building has been scheduled for demolition, Loeb orders a bomb dropped on it, forcing Batman into the fortified basement, abandoning his belt as the explosives inside catch fire. A trigger-happy SWAT team led by Branden is sent in, who Batman attempts to trap in the basement. They soon escape and, after tranquilizing Branden, Batman dodges as the rest open fire, barely managing to survive after two bullet wounds. Enraged as the team’s carelessly fired bullets injure several people outside, Batman beats the team into submission and, after using a device to attract the bats of his cave to him, he flees amid the chaos. Selina Kyle, after witnessing him in action, dons a costume of her own to begin a life of crime.
Gordon has a brief affair with Essen, while Batman intimidates a mob drug dealer for information. The dealer comes to Gordon to testify against Flass, who is brought up on charges. Upset with Gordon's exploits, Loeb blackmails Gordon against pressing charges with proof of his affair. After bringing Barbara with him to interview Bruce Wayne, investigating his connection to Batman, Gordon confesses the affair to her.
Batman sneaks into Falcone’s manor, overhearing a plan against Gordon, but is interrupted when Selina Kyle, hoping to build a reputation after her robberies were pinned on Batman, attacks Falcone and his bodyguards, aided from afar by Batman. Identifying Falcone’s plan as the morning comes, the uncostumed Bruce leaves to help.
While leaving home, Gordon spots a motorcyclist enter his garage. Suspicious, Gordon enters to see Johnny Vitti, Falcone’s nephew, and his thugs holding his family hostage. Gordon decisively shoots the thugs and chases Vitti, who has fled with the baby. Bruce Wayne, on a motorcycle, also rushes out to chase Vitti. Gordon blows out Vitti's car tire on a bridge and the two fight hand-to-hand, with Gordon losing his glasses, before Vitti and James Gordon Junior fall over the side. Bruce leaps over the railing and saves the baby. Gordon realizes that he is standing before an unmasked Batman, but says that he is "practically blind without [his] glasses," and lets Bruce go.
In the final scenes of the comic, Flass turns on Loeb, supplying Dent with evidence and testimony, and Loeb resigns. Gordon is promoted to captain and stands on the rooftop waiting to meet Batman to discuss somebody called The Joker, who is plotting to poison the reservoir.

Drawing: The illustrators did an amazing job on this series, the coloring is great , it takes you back to the old age of comics, just like watchmen it may throw off some readers but they will soon find that it fits the story beautifully.

Verdict: Batman: Year one is trully a graphic novel, I enjoyed every page of it and when i finished an issue i couldn't wait to open another one. I give it a [9/10] . I recommend reading it.

Review:Civil War

Presentation: Marvel was having a rough time getting their fanbase motivated . But this event came around and it gave hope for marvel to get back to their old place in our hearts.

Story:After the attack on the Avengers Mansion, the destruction of Manhattan because of the secret war of Nick Fury, the loss of power of 91.4% of the mutants, the disaster caused Hulk in Las Vegas (where died twenty-six adults, two children and a dog died), the world is in a climate of fear, even stronger, from superheroes. This leads then to a new bill from the U.S. government: the identification of superheroes. This law is to ensure that any person with powers, including the mutants, will be forced to declare the state and to join SHIELD in order to become their new security forces. This will always be superheroes, but in a hierarchy. Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, is informed by his contacts in the Congress of the new bill.
Iron Man then gathered the Illuminati for a special meeting to ask them to be part of the bill to avoid a disaster happens, like two sides of superheroes fighting against each other. Only he and Mr. Fantastic were in favor of this law, in turn, Namor, Black Bolt Doctor Strange and rejected it. Then it was the penultimate meeting of the Illuminati known to date.
Spider-Man began to overcome the bad guys as a team with New Avengers, and tied a friendship with Tony Stark. he asked him to become his right arm. His first mission was to accompany him to Washington for a matter of national security on the Census Act of superheroes. They went and Tony hired Titanium Man to trigger a fight. Peter Parker and believed that we was protecting by fighting the bad guy, but everything was planned: it was just delaying the introduction of the new law, which became inevitable.

Drawing: The drawing is top notch guys. The colors are beautiful and the best i've ever seen. The illustrators sometime put these cinematic poses( i don't what they call em) here an example:

Verdict: This serie was the first major marvel event i've ever read and it was amazing. I think every comic fan should get this, Because : 1st   it influenced all marvel character
2nd It is a good solid story .

I give it a [9/10].

Review: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Prestation: Do you like vampires ? do you like monsters? do you like badass rifle wielding beard rocking old guys? if your answer is Yes, Well you will totally love this comic book series.

Story: The comic strip takes in humorous way the principle of a serial novel contrasting unconventional characters that are particularly dark. To defend England against the most extraordinary threat, a secret agent named Campion Bond, acting on behalf of a mysterious Mister M, gives Miss Wilhelmina Murray (one of the characters of Dracula) the task to recruit individuals with special talents:
-Allan Quatermain, King Solomon's Mines by Henry Rider Haggard.

-Dr. Henry Jekyll and his alter ego, Mr. Hyde, from the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.

-Captain Nemo from Jules Verne's, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

-Hawley Griffin , The Invisible ManNote that Alan Moore gave him the name of the killer Hawley Crippen.

Drawing: The drawing is a bit odd. It is not bad, but it's not something i have seen before . The characters have their own unique styles and they are not forgettable. Knowing that the characters are mainly from books they did a pretty awesome job.

Verdict : It is an amazing series but it may not appeal to many guys (and girls) but if you watched the movie and liked it , you will love this. I give it [7.5/10].
